Properly played — as in these two recordings by Max Greger’s Dance Orchestra — the graceful swinging movement of the Waltz has a pleasantly soothing atmosphere that is very welcome among the many dances in two- and four-four time The Tango is a dance with a lot of temperament. Gone are the days of the „tender“ Tango shrouded in dim lights and silk fringes … a reputation, incidentally, against which the Tango sometimes still has to fight nowadays. However, the presentday Tango has a harder, more accented beat and has become much more virile. Unfortunately, many people think of the Tango also as a very difficult dance. True, it is by no means easy to dance convincingly, but the basic steps are not more difficult than, say, those of the Quickstep or Slow Foxtrot. WALTZ & TANGO This Long Play Microgroove Record can be played only on 45 RPM instruments with a cartridge with microsaphire which puts a pressure of about 8-10 grammes on the record or with a special stereo cartridge of 5-6 grammes. — Printed in Germany —
